Episode 17: The Value of Friends with Kristen Hovde Miller, Amy Stuart VanderMaas, and Stephanie Fels Stout
Stephanie Fels Stout:
Born and raised in the Spokane Valley, graduate of East Valley High School, was a 2 sport athlete. Graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelors in Athletic Training. After becoming a Certified Athletic Trainer took a graduate athletic training position at Purdue University. I wanted to see another part of the country and traveling around the Big 10 helped me achieve that goal. Graduated from Purdue with a Masters in Health Promotion, and a Health Education teaching certificate. Was hired to work at Purdue teaching and athletic training for volleyball and men’s and women’s swimming.Lived in Indiana since 1993, met and married the love of my life and my best friend David in 1995. We own several small businesses, Stout Enterprises, Preferred Home Inspections, and another new exciting adventure is coming soon. We have 3 amazing sons, Tyler (graduate of Purdue 2020), Alex(Junior year baseball player and student at Bethel University) and Jesse (senior in high school and plays basketball and baseball). I am passionate about my family, spending time together is important to me. I love gardening, preserving and canning food and exercising (mostly when I can walk and talk with friends). Building relationships with others is important to me, and through those relationships I hope to spread the love and light of Christ.
Amy Stuart VanderMaas:
Born and raised in Castle Rock, WA. Graduate of Castle Rock High School. Cross Country and Track athlete. Graduated with a BA in Spanish and a minor in history with a secondary teaching credential from Lewis & Clark College. Ran one year in college until an injury sidelined my running career. Received my Master’s Degree from Heritage University and will finish my library certification from Seattle Pacific University Fall of 22. In my 32nd year of education, teaching high school Spanish, AVID/College 101 and the last three years as our high school’s librarian. Also coached track for six years. Met my fabulous, funny husband, Tony, in the Tri-Cities and we’ve been married since 1992. He began as a nuclear engineer but transitioned to education as a teacher, school administrator and now a district administrator. We have two amazing kids, Meghan, a 2019 graduate of the Air Force Academy, and Cole, a senior at Georgetown University in DC. We also have one really awesome son-in-law, Seth, who is also a 2019 graduate of the Air Force Academy. My relationship with Jesus is the most important thing in my life and my prayer is that people will see the Hope of Jesus in me and that it leads them to knowing Christ in a real and life-changing way.
Kristen Hovde Miller:
Grew up in Castle Rock, Washington with Melissa and Amy. Played volleyball at Washington State University and used a BA in Communications to work in Advertising and Marketing. Later added a diploma in Interior Design from The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. Became a stay at home mom when oldest daughter Sophie was born. Lived for seven years outside of Memphis, Tennessee. Loves living in Jupiter, Florida for the past 17 years with college sweetheart Tim Miller. Current Freshman Volleyball Coach at Jupiter High School. Loves visiting Sophie at University of Florida, and following youngest daughter Vivian Miller on the travel volleyball circuit. Loves playing competitive tennis, spending time with friends, traveling -- especially to Lake Chelan, Washington. Embarking on a new career as an empty nester!
