Episode 13: F.E.E.L in Action with Michelle Shekhinah
Trigger warning: abuse, sexual abuse
“...Experience becomes expertise. I have gone through what some would consider unbearable, yet I was determined to save myself and survive. Since then, I have used my skills as a healthcare worker to advocate for domestic violence and trauma survivors. I have also been through years of traditional therapy and other alternative practices to get through all the stages of healing.
I spent years living in an environment of fear and trauma, and I survived for a reason. That reason is to help any person that needs support, strategy, and/or tools to either remove themselves from a toxic situation, or to recover from one.
Everyone's situation is different, unique and will require a different approach to healing. Together, we will discuss what your needs are, where you want to go, and who you want to be. If you are still in an abusive situation in any way, or even a toxic one, we can review an exit strategy, if necessary. You will always have the support here. You will always be heard and seen. You are not alone, you will have me right by your side.”

Ways to Engage: Michelle emphasizes the importance of educating yourself on your emotions to provide the self-care you need. Rather than trying to reuse the same self-care routine every day, try new things depending on your emotions that day. Write down what you’re feeling and how you want your body to respond to self-care. It could make all the difference in the world.
